This biography of Sheikh Ali Jaber:
Sheikh Ali Jaber, (Arabic:علي جابر), born Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Ali Jabber (Arabic: علي بن عبدالله بن علي جابر), was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1951 or 1952. He was Imam at the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and considered to be one of the best reciters in the world. He also has the honor of being first ever Ph.D. Imam of Masjid Al Haraam.

Biography:
In 1956, when Jaber was 5, he moved to Medina, where he memorized the Qur’an, finishing in 1971, at the age of 14 or 15. In 1976, Jaber joined the Sharia Faculty of the Islamic University and graduated in 1986.
He enrolled in the High Institute of Magistracy and prepared a thesis he supported in 1980. His research was carried out on the topic “Abullah Ibn Omar’s fiqh and its impact on the Medina School”. He graduated with honors, and was proposed to be judge in Mayssane, but he preferred the position of Administrative Inspector.
He soon became an Arabic language teacher and professor of Islamic studies in the Education Faculty of Medina, affiliated with King Abdulaziz University. Jaber, who was Imam and reciter in many Saudi mosques, was nominated Imam of the private mosque of King Khalid of Saudi Arabia.
When King Khalid of Saudi Arabia moved to Jeddah; Ali Jaber was appointed as the official lead Imam (by Royal Order) of Masjid al-Haram, the large mosque in Mecca. In 1982, Jaber asked to be exempted from his functions of Imam and went back to leading evening prayers in Ramadan. He got his doctorate certificate in 1986.
Even Today, many great reciters follow him and copy his style in one way or the other[opinion]. Sudais, Shuraim, Mahir Bin Hammad Al-Muaiqiliy… and many more. Mahir Bin Hammad Al-Muaiqiliy even parys for him in Salat ul Witr in Ramadan[citation needed].
Jaber died on December 17, 2005 at the age of 53 or 54. Sheikh Sudais was honoured to lead funeral prayer for Sheikh Ali Jaber in 2005, a previous Imam of the Grand Mosque whose style of recitation of the Quran had great influence on Sheikh Al-Sudais’ own, and on Many Great Quraaa and Mashai’ikh.
